Im desperate to figgure out how to add paragraph breaks to my posts. Figguring out why all the text turns into a link is also a high priority. Unfortunately I am far too stoopit for anything involving CODE. If any of you smarty-pants types out there have any easy answers, Id love to hear em.  I finaly got to mow my lawn over the long weekend, 2 of the 3 days I actually had off! It was wonderful in every way, even the part where my wife discovered the ant nest that had sprung up in our mailbox. Once the box had been removed we were even more delighted to discover the several million ants had been quite busy making several million maggots. After a rousing round of projectile vomiting, I removed the nest and napalmed the surrounding area with areosaul bug death.  Then I got to put up a new mailbox! Whee! I love fixing things and using tools! Please note the seething sarcasm.  So today its back to the big dumb hullaballoo that is my job, but I bithced about that last time, so heres some titties. |

5/24/2006 - Just fucking stupid... |
That's me... Just another stupid fucking cartoonist.  In case the one of you who reads my blog (Hi Gramma!) haven't guessed, I'm in all kinds of a pissy mood today. I'm tired, I haven't updated my blog in forever, my lawn hasn't been mowed in several weeks, my wife and kids have forgotten what I look like, and my fucking hands hurt like a bastard. Why? Well that's where the stupid comes in: I work to fucking much. Plain and simple. I'm a fucking workaholic. "Hi my name is Eric, and I am a stupid fucking workaholic cartoonist." But the people say: "Well being so busy is good right?" or "Its Feast or Famine!" or, "Well it beats the alternative..."  Fuck you. If the alternative is being rested, playing with my kids, kissing my wife, and having a yard I can see the dogshit in before I step in it, then being busy does not in fact "beat it". You try working 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Go on, I dare ya...  And therein lies the problem. I'm proud of it. I'm a happy fucking martyr. "Oh poor me, lookit how hard I work" No one cares. I'm not curing aids or breast cancer, I'm not evacuating refugees from Uganda, I make goddam commercials. I sell shit people don't need to people that don't need it. I'm a professional liar. I've sold my soul for a shiny nickel, and a decent dental plan. (My daughters braces are really, really spendy.)  So, I give up on trying to have a "cool artists blog" like Rex, or Steve or Katie. I'm just gonna bitch and piss and moan about everything every day. And post nudie drawings. I always seem to have time for those...  |

The other night my wife and I got to spend an entire evening (a whopping 2 hours of it anyway) alone together while the girls slept! This may not sound like much to you, but it was like mini-nirvana for us. So what did we do? Sat in front of the TV and ate cookies!! I sketched!!! All things we never get to do. I drew this picture of my wife that night, and its my favorite sketch of her ever. Her hair was just so damn cute! I actually managed not to entirely ruin it with ink. 11/21/2005 - My Friend Jack |
| My good buddy and artist extrordanare Jack Gray has started his own Blog at: http://pickleddrawings.blogspot.com/ and all two of you who visit here should go check it out. Jack was the first artist I ever met outside of art school, and I was fortunate enough to work with him for several years when I was first starting out. Pretty much everything I know about being a professional artist I learned from Jack.(So its all his fault.) We colored comics. I found one of my early efforts durring a google search: 
Notice how flat and boring the colors are, the complete lack of depth, and the slimy Photoshoppery! How proud I was of that cape! Dispite the obvious lack of skill on my part, Jack stuck with me. For that I will always love him in a not completely heterosexual way. Now, if only I could learn to DRAW as well as he does... |

9/8/2005 - Rejects |
Here are some rejected character designs done for work over the weekend.The style of the illustrator they went with was better for the project in my opinion than these, so Im a happy camper. As a director, and as an animator Its fun to work with someone elses designs (when theyre well done) for a change of pace. It also gives me the opportunity to solve problems and think about things in a different way, and grow as an animator. I sound like a philosophy teacher:P Im usually way more cynical than I sound in these entries... Ill try to be more of a bastard from now on. |

| Took a little time over the long weekend to paint this... Pretty happy with how it came out, despite having no idea what I was doing. Its like getting a new toy! Im going to print one out to hang in my Babys room. My teenager wants equal time, but instead of monsters, she wants topless men... not gonna happen:P

8/31/2005 - First Time Illustration Friday |
| I decided to give the Illustration friday a try after seeing all the great work by my fellow DrawingBoard-o-files. (Uloo) Im not going to finish in time so I wont post it to the IF site, but Its great to have a theme to draw when inspiration is hard to come by.This weeks theme is DREAMS, so I drew my youngest daughter dreaming sweetly while her friends wait for her to wake up and play. I did the ink drawing yesterday on my lunch break, and started futzing around with painting last evening. It has a few tangents I need to fix etc, but Im pleased with the results so far. Painting, even the digital kind, isnt something I do often so Its been real fun trying to figgure it out. Ive been referencing a lot of Bill Wray, who is a genius.Ill post the final whenever I finish it.Thanks for all the replies! Enjoy the pics.

| I got inspired by a sketch on Denis's blog of a smoking cowgirl, as I happen to be married to one. She would protest and say shes as much a cowgirl as I am an astronaut, but she has taken to wearing a lime green cowboy hat, much to the delight of my love of red-neckery. Though, it should be known, she is still punk as fuck.

| Well, this is the first time I've tried one of these new fangled blog things. Its kind of exciting for me because I'm utterly socially inept, and looking forward to the day when all human contact can be distilled thru type! YAY!
I can't imagine anyone would be interested in reading anything I might have to say, but to hell with it. I read peoples blogs all the time and am fascinated by the truly uninteresting minutia therein. Ill also post some drawings, so if you don't want to read all the stupid words, you can just look at the pictures.
