Hi kids! long time no post.

Posted by Neneuche
I've had it rough.
I have been trying to cope with my head going all over the place but it's not easy.
I have a bunch of cool art at work but I ain't allowed to show you guys what the dillio because of all the corporate bullcrap we have to sin when they hire us.
My  3rd book illustration work is out now. I think the graphic artist messed the front page, but whatever.
It's the story of a humming bird who has a feather in its eye. I had other ideas for the cover, but they really wanted the cat and the bird and the feather so you gotta do what you gotta do. I am including the artwork and the book image so you can see the difference.
Feeeeeeee!!See how the letters are all over the place? Meh. I couldn't find a biger image online and I'm too lazy to scan the book.

Oh and leave me comments or I think you don't like me.
I'm needy.

Inking with Illustrator

Posted by KirkGuy

Well, this post is for _abl_.
I do not leave many of my old posts, but take them off. _abl_ had asked to see the Wolverine I inked (over Ed McGuinness pencils) as proof that one can ink in Illustrator. Though this is proof that such can be done, I find that people who can ink well, can do much better with a real brush then what I can do with Illustrator.

The one thing that makes this possible in Illustrator, is that I did it on a Cintiq (Monitor that you can draw directly on). Looking back on this image, there are ways it could be better. I think it would also go quicker with a real brush then what I did here with Illustrator. But since I dislike inking, Illustrator helps me with the ablity to go back and change/fix things.

Battle Damaged

Posted by KirkGuy

Wow, been awhile. I guess these images reflect my mood about my drawing of late and my ability to be disciplined at it.

Life with a full time job that requires more then 40 hours some weeks, family time and kids involved in sports, a house that requires work from time to time, and finding time to exercise can really fill up you time.

Some times this drawing can be so trying, I would like to just chuck it all and quit drawing all together. But then there are the times when I just let thing be what they are, quit stressing about it, and I really enjoy drawing.

So like many things in life, one day at a time and let things be what they are. Sort of like faith. Leaning on the Lord at times when we are at the end of ourselves.

The above is Matt’s Starblast character after a big fight. Preview of page 12. Have a good day. - Kirk

Project: Rooftop

Posted by themightyadam
This morning is crazy busy at work, but I didn't want to wait until the afternoon lull to share with you my Superman: Man o' Style entry for Project: Rooftop.

I did several, but only bothered to take one of them through to the final-draft stage. I could write an essay, but I'll just say that I was going for Superman: Two-Fisted Space Explorer. I was inspired by Flash Gordon. The belt is part wrestler-belt and part Supergirl belt from this, my favorite Supergirl cover. The "S" is a bit chunkier and, I think, feels "happier." And the shield on his back is just a blank, metallic-yellow diamond.

Living large.

I uploaded a few pieces from the last Dr. Sketchy I went to. I brought in my laptop. The models were 2 very interesting and very large women. They're performers in Big Moves, a dance troop with fat people. They posed with skampy outfits, which is propper Sketchy attire. They were pretty fun to draw and they also talked a lot, which is usually not goot for a model to do because it tends to make them move, but they didn't. We laughed a lot.
FYI, the one with glasses had pasties on her nipples, just so you didn't think they were bloody or something.

Dr. Sketchy Seattle

Posted by themightyadam
Last Monday I got really drunk! And I drew ladies! Or a lady. Mama Lou Strongwoman performed at the May Dr. Sketchy and absolutely killed. C'lammy Jon was all in love and it was great. I don't remember how long I spent on each of these so, instead, I'll tell you what I was drinking at the time.

Vodka.

Vokda.
