What a week!

Posted by Neneuche
Ok, kids. Let me just say that I've had a little of wine, so I'm a little tipsy, but I deserve it.
My mom is in the hospital. My boyfriend's dad is in the hospital. I got a new job that pays more at bisoft and I start next week. I had to leave a lot of friends behind. I've finished the cover of the novel I'm illustrating. I got a hair cut. I went to see the Potter movie and really liked it. I'm reading the Potter book, which I ordered online but which came so late that I had to go buy another copy so I could read it before the spoilers got to me.
It's the best so far. The culmination of years of wondering what the fuck is going on.
That's a lot of crap for my litle brain. I don't know if I'm allowed to show the cover I did yet. But I think I can at least show this.

It's part of it but it's not all of it.
Hope you like.
Laters! I'm back to the Hallows.

Which Hogwarts house will you be sorted into?

At least mine has nice colours.

Your in-depth results are:

Gryffindor - 15
Ravenclaw - 13
Hufflepuff - 10
Slytherin - 9

How much of a nerd are YOU?

Harry Potter and the geeky illustraor.

Posted by Neneuche
I'm such a lamewad. I absolutly adore the Potter franchise. It's no secret. So friday at lunchtime when me and 2 friends decided to do some OC, I came up with this, knowing that I was gonna go see the Order of the Phoenix that evening.

Apparently it's not a very acurate depiction since a few people tought it was a cartoony self portrait.
Well, my hairs is certainly not THAT big and my eyes are blue, not brown. Besides, I don't wear a tie nor a gray cardigan.
So, what do YOU think?
I saw the movie last night as I said before, and here's what I wrote about it on the Drawing Board's movie section.

The nerds shall inherit the earth.
Saw it last night. It's a gem.
Ok. First of all, it is to be expected that some elements from a 1000 pages book will be cut in the movie adaptation.
Also, it's an adaptation, not live action book
But I found that the things that were removed, though some were quite dear to me, were worked around quite well or explained enough so that a person who hasn't read the books and pays attention will understand everything. However, you do need to have seen all the other movies.
I think the cinematography was captivating. It shows that the director is used to documentaries and it feels like he dramatic parts are close enough to touch. Also, the actors, both teens and adults were all equisite. I'm a die hard fan, but it's undeniable that Daniel Radclif has achieved new hights.
The relationships obviously deepens and are a lot more intense. Bodylanguage is very important.
A nice touch was that they actually show little snippits of the past movies. I'm not gonna tell what, but it's interesting how it was done.
I am dispointed that some of my favorite parts were removed or barely there at all. But I still realy enjoyed the movie and would gladly see it again really soon. I feel a bit guilty that I actually found Harry kind of hot. The body Daniel got for Equus is pretty impressive.
I tought the cg was a bit uneven tough. While the creatures were splendid, Gwarp was a little 1995 to my taste. It's probalby my favorite so far, tough I say hat about all of them when they come out.
So if you realise that the films are seperate entities from the books though they both fallow similar storylines, you won't be disapointed. The villains!! GOD! Awesome evil!!
Very Happy
Go see it! Or I'm gonna have to tell you everything.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

RATATOUILLE!!!!

Here's my impression on the movie. I also posted it on the Drawing Board.

:)
Oh my!
How tasty!
Yes, I know it's lame to say about a movie themed around food, but I had to say it. It's a delight.
I must admit the only reason I went to see it was that it was a pixar and they always have something impressive to show. I really wasn't that impressed by what I had seen from it nor by what I had heard, other than that Brad Byrd was involved.
I was so pleasantly surprised.
While it's a slow start, the story is captivating, a lot more than I had expected. It's made of a lot of mini stories that fallow a series of events. It's funny, touching and thrilling, all done in very subtle ways.
Estethiclly, it's flawless. The hair is amazing, the skin, the attention to detail is remarkable and everything tough stylised to the extreme looks real and tangible.
Every character could have their own movie as they all show personality and a life beyond the mere 3d models that they are. I espescially loved the main character, so clumsy and naive yet so endearing in his attempts to be what he's not.
This movie is a work of art. I didn't think any other pixar could beat the Incredibles.
This one doesn't, but it's in a cathegory of its own, which is just as good.
I give it 5 stars!

Lost? or just moving to a new server?

Posted by themightyadam
So my website's moved to a new server. I've completely trashed it all and will begin slowly building it back up from scratch. Any of the old images linked in this journal or wherever will be gone for a while. Some of the better ones will come back, I'm sure. I don't figure anyone will notice. For now there are no files on there save for the index page and this little Lost doodle I did today at work.

Relatedly, I'm trying to learn some CSS / XHTML stuff, because my interweb skills are old, dusty, and embarrassing.

What else is new?....
Wedding planning is plodding along stupidly slowly. There's a lot more work involved than I thought. Shouldn't I have sent out invitations, like, last month?

It's beautiful here in Seattle. Yesterday climbed up to 87 degrees on the weather-o-tron. It's too nice out to be at work. It's also too nice out to do laundry. 'least, that's my excuse.

My old friend Morgan is coming back to the US (from France) for about a week, and I couldn't be more excited to see him.

I bought a bunch of old Donald Duck/Disney Comics and am enjoying the hell out of those.

How are you?

HAIRCUT!!!

Posted by Neneuche

I look a lot better in the second one; I wish I could walk around with that light so I'd always look great. But I actually look more like the first pictures.
Anyways, I have a new haircut and I feel fabulous.
:D

No time!

Posted by Neneuche
Ok, I have a lot going on. Naturally, everything happens at once.
I have to elaborate on
-Paint-ball
-The book
-The stomach virus
-The no-shampoo thing
-The haircut
-The reunion.
So these are topics I'll have to elaborate when I have the time.
Have a margarita for me if you're somewhere sunny!

Facebook has its perks.

Posted by Neneuche
I can upload a bunch of pictures and I don't lose any of my prescious bandwith. Altough I'd rather not upload too much artwork on there for fear of art theft and all thier legal "we own you" mumbojumbo.

To see some crazy pictures taken at a party with that silly MAC webcam, CLICK HERE!!!
I'm in most of them. That's right, attention whore. Although they're not the most flattering kind.

Ok, not really.
